The TIAFT2006 Proceedings contain a total of 200 contributions, among them 18 in the form of full papers presented at the 44th annual meeting of The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT2006) held in Ljubljana from 27 August to 1 September 2006. Many of papers have been published in peer-reviewed journals: 23 in Forensic Science International, Volume 170, Issue 2/3, pp. 93–216 (6 August 2007) and 3 in the Journal of Chromatography B, Vol. 855, No.2. The Proceedings also include 14 lectures presented at the symposium Medicinal Drugs and Human Performance During the meeting, a roundtable on illegal drugs and traffic safety was arranged. The contributions from different countries were organized according to a questionnaire prepared by chairmen Prof. Olaf Drummer and Prof. Jorg Morland. A summary of these reports, assembled by Prof. Drummer, is also part of the TIAFT2006 proceedings. Some additional contributions highlight the scientific activities and social events during the conference. As editor of this volume, I would like to thank the authors for their contributions and the members of scientific committee for their support, especially in reviewing manuscripts.
