How to Create Your Own Website

Step by Step Guide to Create Your Own Website for Beginners

The internet is expanding day by day with more services and information online now than ever before. This expansion of internet is particularly because of those many websites that become a part of the World Wide Web each and everyday.

The most asked question by new website builders is whether they can get a free website. The answer is not a simple yes or no but requires some understanding. Check this post “how to create a website” and make your own website. Let’s start with discussing what a website actually is.

To create your own website you need three things:

Simply speaking, the domain is the name of your website. That’s the URL address people would type in when trying to reach your site. You can register a domain name from a domain registrar for around 10 Dollars annually.

A Host is actually a Server (computer) that stores your website and serves it to the world. There are different hosting plans available with hosting companies. What plan you require depends on you needs. But for a starting website, a basic hosting account is usually enough which can be opened with a Web Host for around 5 Dollars per month.

Now look at the last and the most important thing, the website, which is the actual visual thing people will see when they open you site. It’s the combination of text, images, code etc working together. The question is how to get this part done?

Actually there is no single answer as there is no single path to follow. The answer depends upon the use, the website will be put to. You can either pay some one to build it for you or you can build it yourself for free.

You can build a website yourself in a number of ways. Many web hosts offer special website making applications that can help you build a basic website with least amount of effort. If you are looking forward to a simple website, you can build it using development tools like Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Coffee cup, etc, but this requires learning how to use these software applications and also requires understanding of Html and CSS.

You can also use a Content Management System (CMS) to build a website. These systems are a good choice because they create a dynamic website, which is very easy to maintain and update. An advice is that if you are learning stuff just for your own website needs, than learning how to use a Content Management System is better than learning HTML, CSS and a Development Software as this is all you will need to build and maintain your website. There are many CMSs available today but the most popular ones and free ones are Joomla, WordPress and Drupal.

If you don’t want to learn anything or are short of time or can spend money, than paying someone else to do it for you could be the right way. The cost will be different from Designer to Designer and will depend mostly on the complexity of your website. Most builders will setup a Domain and Host for you too for some additional fee. But be aware that since you don’t know anything yourself, when ever you need to update your site in the future, you will have to pay the Designer again to get his/her help in most cases.

Depending on your needs and resources, to create your own website can be easy, a bit difficult or with a little hard work done free. But I guess whatever the way may be, having a website to represent yourself on the internet will always be beneficial to you and your business.
